Skiers and snowboarders in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Montana have a lot to be grateful for this Thanksgiving weekend in the USA. Some big storms have left some big snowfall numbers with many still mid blizzard.
Opensnow.com was already calling for 24 inches (60cms) for Colorado high country this weekend and SnowBrains agreed. Powder Buoy was calling for 3 foot (93.6cms) in the Cottonwoods and up to 2 feet (60cms) in Park City.
Neither forecasts disappointed as the snow has been bucketing down over the last 48 hours. It’s a good time to be an American in a ski town right now.
Big Sky in Montana opened this week with over 70 inches of snowfall (1.75m), Jackson Hole opened with 79 inches of snow this season already (1.97m) and 8 inches (20cms) in the last 24 hours alone and they are mid storm with more to come. Grand Targhee is just, well, more of the same with opening powder turns for all.
Mammoth in California hasn’t missed out either. The resort is calling up to 30 inches (75cms) from the current storm.
Loveland in Colorado is killing it, having hit the 100 inch (250cm) mark already and those wanting to get to their favourite ski fields on the I-70 are in for a bad time as the motorway closed due to blizzards. Those already in those ski fields are laughing.
Meanwhile in Jackson Hole…
