South Canterbury’s (New Zealand) Mt Dobson Ski Area will open this weekend (Saturday 18th June) – a full three weeks ahead of its original scheduled opening date of July 9th.
Mt Dobson will open with the Fairlie Ridge t-bar and beginners area, along with the café, ski and snowboard rentals and snow school.
Mt Dobson Mountain Manager, Bruce Foote, is delighted to get the Ski Area open for the 2016 winter.
“We’ve had good early snowfalls and aside from a warm spell late last week, for the most part we’ve had cold temperatures, so that’s allowed us to hang on to the snow and start building trails.”
Mt Dobson will initially operate on weekends and then open full-time from Saturday July 2nd. The Ski Area has a new website and high definition web cameras so customers can keep up to date with current conditions from their desktop, mobile or tablet.
“We’re stoked to kick off our 37th season at Mt Dobson this weekend. It’s a fun, low key start and we really look forward to catching up with our loyal customers,” Bruce Foote said today.
