Big White for big kids

We all know that Big White is Canada’s leading family mountain resort but there is plenty for big kids too. Here’s six things to keep the big kids in adult bodies happy at Big White.

Masters week

Ski with like minded folk with Big White’s best ski instructors and carve up that legendary Okanagan Champagne Powder.

Designed specifically for passionate skiers and snowboarders aged 50+, this week-long program combines the best skiing and riding Big White has to offer with a series of exclusive après events including wine tastings, appetisers at  local restaurants, evening sleigh rides and more.

Due to demand, the Masters Week program now runs for two separate weeks at Big White. January 30 to February 3 and again on February 27 to March 3.

Cost is CA$267 + tax.

Ski with an Olympian

Kelsey Serwa won a silver medal in ski cross at the Sochi Olympics. The former World Champion and X Games gold medalist calls Big White her home mountain and is offering Saturday and Sunday sessions throughout the winter season. You’ll get a full day of coaching and lift line priority for CA$899 per person for a private session or CA$1599 for a group up to five people.

Every Wednesday throughout the ski season is Ladies Day. Join other women of similar ability for a 2 hour group lesson followed by a luncheon at Happy Valley at Noon with wine tasting, and prizes.

You can choose between skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing group lessons from CA$63 per person (lift pass not included). Cross Country and Snowshoeing lessons include rentals and a trail pass, as well as a 2 hour group lesson and lunch. Nordic lessons MUST be booked at least 24 hours in advance.

BIG REDS

Okanagan red wines are unique, bold, fruit forward, with lots of cellar worthy aging potential and Big Reds at Big White is a celebratory night of Okanagan wine tastings with local vintners. Sample cellar worthy wines, while interacting with the winemakers, in a relaxed and informal setting.

British Columbia’s geology, and “micro-climates” contribute to the production of Internationally recognized award-winning wines. The varying soil and climate conditions are uniquely suited to a growing wide range of black grape varietals, which include Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Malbec, and Petit Verdot.

The Big Reds at Big White event extends over two evenings, Friday December 9th and Saturday December 10th, 2016

Ticket cost $60 per person for one evening, $100 to attend both evenings.

The bar was also voted Best Apres Ski Venue in North America by The Good Skiing and Snowboarding Guide.  You’ll find the famed Gunbarrel Coffee upstairs at the Gunbarrel Grill featuring a double barrel Montgomery Ward & Co shotgun from the early 1900s and flames.
