The Australian snowboard cross team scored podium place again this week after Adam Lambert’s Silver in Val Thorens. This time Jarryd Hughes produced a first place run, winning FIS World Cup gold in Montafon.

Both Adam Lambert and Jarryd Hughes made it through to the quarter finals with Hughes going on to win his semi final and then the big final. Alex Chumpy Pullin did not start in his final,  leaving three Australians (Jarryd Hughes, Adam Lambert and Matthew Thomas) to fly the Aussie flag on finals day.

Montafon is in the middle of a snow blizzard, but this didn’t stop Hughes from taking what was rightfully his, first place.

Hughes’ win has pushed him into the top five on the current boarder cross leaderboard where three Australians now sit.

It’s a full weekend of events for Australian winter athletes with the aerial team currently competing in Secret Garden China for their FIS World Cup season opener with not one but two FIS World Cup finals.
