If you’re scared of heights you might want to look away as 140 people were rescued from a chairlift hanging over a cliff at Whitefish, Montana yesterday.
A mechanical problem stopped the chairlift around midday and the entire evacuation took over two and a half hours to complete.
Local Whitefish resident, Billy Marcial caught the tricky evacuation on film as some boarders and skiers were forced to lower down over a cliff due to the position of the chair. The evacuation is impressive stuff from a clearly experienced ski patrol.
If you’ve been to Whitefish you know two things, the skiing is off the charts good and the temperature is super cold bad. Resort guests stuck on the chair were given blankets and hand warmers and hot drinks during the rescue.
