Scenic World operators to manage Australia’s first indoor ski resort

Australia’s first indoor snow resort, Winter Sports World, is set to begin construction in 2025. Located within the Riverlink Tourism Project in Penrith in Western Sydney, it will boast a 300m advanced open run and a snow play area, ice climbing and crevasse outdoor rock climbing plus 170 room 4.5 star hotel.

Dubbed the “giant Esky” is a $500m plus project that is set to contribute $2.5billion in economic growth for the region over the next decade and provide extra competition training venue options for alpine skiing, freestyle skiing and snowboarding.

Winter Sports World was granted State Significant Development Application approval on January 11, 2024.

It is now undergoing a phase of detailed design and engineering development to prepare for construction, which is on track to begin in 2025.

The project has today announced preferred operating and management companies to run and manage the venue.

The team behind Bridgeclimb and the Blue Mountains Scenic World, Hamman Holdings, will run and manage the snow attractions and hospitality operator Trippas White Group (Sydney Opera House, Taronga Zoo, National Gallery and more) has been chosen to run the food and beverage offerings.

“After a global search, we have discovered the best tourism attractions and food and beverage operators in the world right here in NSW,” said Peter Magnisalis, CEO of Winter Sports World.

“I am confident that Hammons Holdings and Trippas White Group will help drive the success we expect this project to achieve.’’

“Winter Sports World is an exciting one-of-a-kind drawcard for tourism in Western Sydney, the Blue Mountains and more widely, Australia, and will be pivotal to growing the local and NSW tourism economy over the coming decades,” said Hammons Holding CEO David Hamman.
