Well, that escalated quickly. An observational post at the beginning of Australia’s ‘powder season’ about the lack of females actively riding and skiing in front of the official social media cameras of the Aussie ski industry inspired a hashtag #showusdagirls and the laydeez went cray cray.
Since then we’re pleased to say that we did see more chicks actively riding and skiing in ski resort social feeds in 2018 than every before. And we are loving the inspirational chatter in our new Facebook Group Miss Snow It All Show Us Da Girls that already has over 2000 members. Go girls!
The hashtag launched a competition to win a pair of Coalition Skis from Blackbird Bespoke Ski Company or a Nitro Snowboard as used by She Shreds Community with some cool Eivy base layers. All you had to do was tag #misssnowitall #showusdagirls and you’d pretty much entered.
We received over 1600 entries from dames, chicks, laydeez, goddesses and females of all ages and ski levels who ski and snowboard. There were backcountry rockers, big mountain bad asses, beginner wobbles, terrain park stacks, big smiling faces covered in snow and general mayhem from girls who are not afraid to laugh at themselves, have fun and be focused in progression.
Many brought a giggle to our throats and a tear to our eye as the sheer joy of sliding on snow was captured by women and girls that we relate to. Real women, not a brand’s idea that only young, thin, pretty girls dare to step into skis or snowboard, or drink lattes while holding skis and watching their boyfriends.
