Whistler Real Estate have listed a “car stall” for CAD$110,000 (AUD$122,000). It doesn’t even have a storage cage or locker, just a simple piece of underground concrete to fit your car.
“Never have to deal with the headache of looking for parking when you go skiing, hiking, or biking. Don’t miss out on the fresh powder because you had to drive around to find a parking spot!” reads the ad.
“Here is your opportunity to purchase a fully secure, underground parking stall in the Glacier Lodge, just steps from the base of Blackcomb Mountain and the Blackcomb Gondola. This parking stall is conveniently located by the secure exit making it easy access to start your day.”
Which got us thinking, not just about the cost of parking at Thredbo and Perisher (btw, it’s free, though National Park entry is not) but what could we get for $122,000 other than a car spot in Whistler?
You could get yourself two blocks of residential beachfront land on South Australia’s pristine Wedge Island ($70k per block), a beach boat shed on the Mornington Peninsula ($125k) which really is rather expensive for a box, land at Victoria’s Paradise Beach on the iconic 90 Mile Beach ($125k) or for an extra $25k you could buy a shop in Nugget’s Crossing in Jindabyne.
Just saying.
