Fancy An all girl snow adventure in the hills of JapaN? Your wish is our command.
There’s only one thing better than skiing or riding powder and that’s hitting that same powder with a bunch of like minded friends old and new. For females sharing that powder with other females takes the pressure off, it’s something that the folks behind Snow Goddess Retreats know well.
These new all girl retreats are from the brains behind the highly successful Surf Goddess Retreats in Bali that are now in their twelfth year.
The concept is similar – throw a bunch of women together, give them surf (or powder) to play with, add some yoga, some nourishing meals and spirited culture and let the group dynamic do the rest.
The soaring snow laden peaks of Hakuba on the main island of Japan is the setting for their latest venture, Snow Goddess Retreats, a series of week long adventures for snow loving women throughout the northern season.
Picture this. Fly into Tokyo, board a goddess only coach to take you and your fellow goddesses to Hakuba. Be led by an inspiring retreat leader to the Goddess Lodge where you will bed down for a week. Expect nourishing dinners made by the retreat’s resident chef served with a side of yogic conversation, mad laughter and story connections.
Wake every morning to nurturing breakfasts then head to the piste to improve your skiing and boarding with women of similar ability from beginner to advanced. Lunch on the mountain then have the afternoon free to yourself to hit the mountain at your own pace or take a turn around the local villages.
Here’s the best part. Two words. Restorative yoga. Three evenings throughout the week goddesses will stretch out powder worn muscles and relax and restore with a blend of hatha, yin and light vinyasa flow yoga.
Add some healing Japanese hot spring onsens and plenty of free time to hit the apres ski scene, relax in front of the lodge fire and catch up on your favourite fiction reading.
Day five is a dedicated ‘bliss day’ for you to follow your heart whether you choose to experience a traditional tea ceremony, visit the world famous snow monkey onsen or just keep skiing.
But wait there’s definitely more. The good folk at Snow Goddess Retreats believe in giving back with kindness and have created a Woman Kind program to donate 5% of profits to charitable endeavours that contribute to make life better for women around the world.
