New South Wales ski resort Thredbo has today announced Australian snowboarding legend, Torah Bright, as the new face of the resort.
“It’s so nice to be home and enjoy these unbelievable snow conditions in Thredbo” says Cooma born Bright who has won Gold in the halfpipe at the Vancouver Winter Olympics and Silver at Sochi. “They are some of the best I’ve ever seen.”
The signing of Bright is considered a coup in the industry as she was previously the very public face of Perisher from 2010 until this year. Perisher even named their halfpipe after her.
While Thredbo doesn’t have a halfpipe, though with Bright’s signing rumours will no doubt fly that this may be about to change, they still consider the halfpipe, boarder x and slopestyle athlete to be a perfect fit to promote the fun of snowsports.
The resort plans to utilise the Bright sponsorship to encourage more Australians to try skiing and snowboarding for the first time. The clean living Bright is the most recognised snowsports face in mainstream Australia so if anyone can get newbies over the chairlift line, she can.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering again with Torah” said Thredbo spokesperson, Director of Brand, Angus Thomson.
“She epitomises everything there is to love about winter and snow. She grew up skiing and boarding in Thredbo, went on to conquer the world stage and is now back where it all began.
Torah is really passionate about joining us in encouraging more people to experience the magic and excitement of snow. It’s a perfect partnership.”
