Beaver Creek is known for twice daily grooming, ski in ski out luxury and ‘that’ big boofy dog at the Ritz Carlton that you can cuddle and take for a walk.
It’s also known for free freshly baked cookies every afternoon at the end of the day, covered escalators to the chairlifts and heated pavements, 1230 metres of vertical rise and 1832 acres of skiable terrain.
There’s never a bad time to visit Beaver Creek but there are three significant events held every year that are definitely worth planning your holiday dates around. Add these to your Beaver Creek experience and you may never want to leave.
Best chocolate chip cookie competition
Beaver Creek Opening Day is one hell of a taste celebration with the annual World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition. Five vetted finalists serve up their signature recipe to hungry skiers and boarders from 2pm with over 5000 gourmet cookies devoured. Taste and cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award and your favourite cookie could be served up throughout winter.
The Audi Birds of Prey Men’s World Cup
The fastest and scariest descent on the FIS World Cup men’s alpine racing circuit is the event of the year at Beaver Creek. In short, it’s party time for spectators and the start of the race season for competitors including World Champion, Ted Ligety. The world’s best ski racers don lycra and throw themselves down the famed Birds of Prey downhill run on December 5, Super G on December 6 and Giant Slalom on December 7. Expect a series of parties, live music, athlete sightings and more.
Beaver Creek Winter Culinary Weekend
The Beaver Creek Winter Culinary Weekend offers interactive cooking demonstrations, innovative wine and spirits events, gourmet wine pairing dinners and endless hours of phenomenal skiing. Featuring world-renowned guest chefs working alongside outstanding Beaver Creek culinary talent. Events and tasting are held throughout the weekend from January 19 to 22.
Just down the road
Vail is a mere twenty minutes down the road from Beaver Creek and your lift pass is eligible at both resorts. Check out The Burton Open at the end of February, beginning of March each year when the world’s biggest and best snowboarders hit up the Super Pipe from Chloe Kim to Shaun White and beyond. Then add live music from world renowned bands and you have one hell of a party.
