Can’t decide between New Zealand and Australia this winter? Now you can do both without breaking the bank.
I have had terrible luck in some seasons with choosing ski dates. If it’s snowing in Australia I end up in New Zealand, if it’s snowing in New Zealand I end up in Australia. That can be the luck of the draw when booking ahead.
Now with both New Zealand’s Coronet Peak, Remarkables and Mt Hutt joining the Mountain Collective ski pass alongside Thredbo in Australia I may not have that trouble again. Because this southern season is when Thredbo’s partnership with the Mountain Collective really comes into it’s own.
Mountain Collective pass holders get two free days skiing at any of the 12 resorts included (Alta/Snowbird, Aspen Snowmass, Jackson Hole, Mammoth, Lake Louise/Sunshine, Coronet Peak/Remarkables/Mt Hutt, Squaw/Alpine Meadows, Stowe, Sun Valley, Taos, Thredbo, Whistler Blackcomb) then 50% off any additional day passes with no blackout dates.
This means Aussies wanting to make the most of the southern season can pop over to New Zealand when the snow storms come in and get free skiing for two days then half price ski passes for the rest of the days then head back home and do the same down south at Thredbo. You can then be skiing Thredbo after your two free days for as little as $60 a day.
So you can really pick the eyes out of the best conditions as the season progresses. There’s nothing better than being on the winning end of snow storm cycles.
If you want to go even further afield the Mountain Collective pass also gives pass holders two free ski days at affiliate resorts including Valle Nevada in Chile (the 50% off deal for tickets does not apply with affiliate resorts) in the southern hemisphere and Chamonix and Hakuba in the northern.
You need never find yourself on the wrong side of the ditch again now that both sides win.
So how much for this storm chasing deal? The one pass consists of 30 days at 15 global destinations then 50% off all full member resorts.
Expect to pay US$389 for adults and US$99 for kids under 12. If you buy now you get an extra bonus day at a resort of your choice.
