Anything can happen in seven days but some are predicting 38cms to fall for Falls Creek over May 2 and 3 with similar figures for Mt Buller, Mt Stirling and Selwyn. Perisher, Hotham, Charlotte Pass and Thredbo are expecting falls in the twenties and we say bring…it…on.

The Bureau of Meteorology aren’t so gung ho on actual centimetres. Rather predicting ‘snow showers’ for May 2 and 3 with a low of minus one degree celcius.  That has to be a good thing, right?

But the folks over at Snow-forecast.com are saying one to two centimetres of snow at 1790 metres for Falls Creek on May 2. Boo hiss to them.

Are you a glass half full or half empty of snow kind of person? Me?  Today I’m all about full so I’m going with 38cms at Falls Creek next weekend.

I also believe in unicorns so I believe that 38cms will stay frozen on the ground to form the start of a base of snow that will be a record season for Australian snow resorts.

Either way, all these figures are getting me hyped for the season ahead. Which, by the way, is only 6.5 weeks away!

Time to get fit to ski.

What do you predict for Australian snow fields in 2014?
