A snowboarder survived fifteen hours overnight in freezing temperatures trapped in a gondola in California last Thursday local time.
Snowboarder Monica Laso finished her snow day at Heavenly Mountain in South Lake Tahoe by downloading in the gondola around 5pm as she was too tired to board down.
Unfortunately for Monica, as reported by KCRA, the gondola stopped for the night while she was still in one of the cabins.
As she didn’t have her mobile phone she was unable to call for help and while she shouted out from the gondola her cries were not heard. When she didn’t meet up with her friends they reported her missing to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
When the gondola started up again the next morning, the resort lift crew discovered Laso in the gondola. She had spent the night rubbing her hands and feet together in order to stay warm. Paramedics were called and Laso was attended to at the scene.
Heavenly Mountain is investigating the incident.
