Scotty James opens FIS World Cup season with silver in halfpipe

And we’re off and running in the FIS World Cup park and pipe season as Australian Scotty James claims silver in the opening event at Secret Garden in China.

Two time Winter Olympic medalist, James, is no stranger to the Secret Garden pipe, having claimed silver in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics at the same site.

It was a best of three runs format that could have gone either way for the three time FIS World Champion as he was unable to put down a clean run in the first two. James always works well under pressure, landing his third run with 88.25 points and taking the second spot.

Japan’s Yuto Totsuka took gold with 95.50 and Ryusei Yamada bronze with 87.75.

Australia’s Valentino Guseli did not compete after rupturing his ACL in training at Beijing Big Air last week. He is now out for the season with a 12 month rehab ahead.

Copper Mountain in Colorado, USA, will host the next FIS World Cup halfpipe event on December 20.
