Perisher to close today, that’s a wrap on the Aussie mainland ski season

Waaah, it’s official. The mainland resort Aussie ski season of 2024 has come to an end with Perisher, the last man standing, announcing they will close today.

We would like to advise that today, 25th September will be the last day of operations at Perisher for the 2024 season.

We have made this difficult decision based on current conditions and in the interest of guest and staff safety, as well as with the best interests of our environment in mind.

While the forecast indicates snowfall overnight, with strong winds, torrential rain, and spring temperatures forecasted today, we will be unable to preserve what’s left of the snowpack despite the best efforts of our grooming team.

While this past season was not without its challenges, with limited natural snowfall and an above average amount of wind hold days, it was still an awesome one. We have enjoyed 109 days of skiing and boarding thanks to the hard work and dedication of Perisher staff, with a special shout out to our snowmaking, grooming, and mountain operations teams.

We’d like to thank you for helping us make the most of this season and cannot wait to welcome you back in 2025. With our brand new, 6-seater chairlift set to open on Mt. Perisher and a massive events calendar in the works, next season is going to be one for the books!

Watch this space for our best and worst of the 2024 Aussie and New Zealand ski season, thumbs up and thumbs down, the laughs, the tears, the what the actuals.
