The North Face just dropped the best welcome to the team video ever and now we all want to be athletes.

Norwegian-Kiwi snowboarder Fredrik Perry has joined the outdoor brand’s athlete team and to celebrate a few famous faces have lent a video hand.

Without revealing too many spoilers, let’s just say the final frame is hilarious.

The North Face Welcomes: Fredrik Perry

So who is Freddy Perry?

Growing up in Hognestad, and later Telemark in Norway, Freddy spent five days a week snowboarding with his close friends, nightriding after school. He progressed into the Norwegian Snowboard Academy, but rather than focusing on the contest route, Freddy was drawn to urban riding and creating video parts.

With his dad being from New Zealand, Freddy Perry has recently dusted off his New Zealand passport to continue riding year-round, basing himself out of Jindabyne, Australia. This season he spent his days in the park, took part in Tess Coady’s Bush Doof, and took some time to plan community-focused events for next winter.

Known as the mastermind behind Benchpress The Movie, Freddy Perry brought snowboarders from all around the world together, with a film solely dedicated to the urban feature – the bench. Later the film evolved into Bench Heaven, a snowboarding event held in Oslo, Norway.

Freddy has countless video parts and has also produced many of his own videos, a continual athletic and creative pursuit for him.

“Freddy Perry is one of a kind in the snowboarding world, bringing energy and humour to the sport that’s unexpected, but highly valued. While his talent on a snowboard is unreal, we love that it’s more than just hitting spots and doing tricks for Freddy,” says Alex West, The North Face Athlete and Community Marketing Manager.

“His creative concepts for videos and events are out of the box, and a sure way to strengthen the camaraderie and self-expression that snowboarding culture thrives on.”

Later this year, Freddy will be releasing a 2-year film project Renaissance Man, which will premiere in Stockholm and Oslo. He will be competing at one of the most highly anticipated street snowboarding events, DIYX STRT JAM taking place Stockholm 25 – 26 October, 2024.

“I’m elated to join The North Face. I’ve been a huge fan of the brand for the longest time. Rich history, sense of style and quality gear. Drizzle some ambition on top of that? Damn. I can’t wait to contribute to the snow program with strong, silly and fun projects,” said the now The North Face Athlete, Freddy Perry.
