As female skiers and snowboarders we’ve all conquered something in our snow journey, whether it’s fear, anxiety, awkwardness, the patriarchy, lack of funds or all of the above.

And along the way, we’ve all battled the same things; a frustrating day when you seem to fall over and over again; a hit to the head; a battered and bruised body; a day so cold that you think you’ll never regain feeling in your fingers.

But we’ve all reaped the rewards, too. The excitement when you arrive in resort and you first spot the chairlift, heart in your chest. The high when you get the perfect powder turn. The experience of being humbled by the mountains around you. And best of all, the community that you build along the way, of like-minded women that are incredibly powerful.

That is what The North Face’s brand new Team Kit is all about. Freeride gear created for women, by women. You can deck yourself out in the latest and then put it through its paces at a new Freeride Camp being offered in New Zealand.

What’s The Team Kit?

The Team Kit is the new range of products launched by The North Face to celebrate snowsports and the community it creates. It’s the kind of gear that makes you feel as though you can go camping in minus 55 degrees, or conquer the coldest chairlift, because it’s been tried and tested by the best of the best.

Athletes Leanne Pelosi, Jess Kimura, Marion Haerty, Mary Rand, and Amanda Hankison are all part of a greater whole, a community that grows stronger together especially when it’s open to all; they’ve been giving the gear a whirl through their freeride pursuits.

Be inspired at the Freeride Camps

Decked yourself out in the Team Kit, and now want to get out into the backcountry and discover freedom for yourself? Australian snowboarder and World Freeride Tour athlete Michaela Davis-Meehan is set to host a Freeride Camp in Queenstown this September – the dream for skiers and boarders looking for true adventure, and bound to be a memorable experience for all.

The 10-day camp runs from September 12-22 , with days at The Remarkables and Coronet Peak along with backcountry tours. Experienced coaches and backcountry guides will pass on knowledge on choosing the right line and features; safety in the mountains; avalanche training and awareness and so much more.

With a professional videographer in tow, participants will have it all captured on film to take home and share with family and friends. All you have to tick off is being able to ski or board at a high intermediate, advanced or expert level.
