The short lived trans Tasman bubble of 2021 is set for a resurgence in 2022 with the New Zealand government today announcing reopening plans.
First up from January 17 will be fully vaccinated New Zealanders living in Australia. They will be able to travel from Australia home without quarantine in a hotel. Instead they will be required to do seven days of home isolation. Next up is February 14 when kiwis can fly in from select countries with the same home isolation conditions.
Those visiting New Zealand will require a negative pre-departure COVID test, proof of full vaccination, travel history declaration, a test once arriving in the country and a final test before leaving home isolation.
Skiers and snowboarders will be pleased to know that New Zealand then intends to open from April 30 to international visitors. Though this will be a staged process by region.
