Over the past five years, Telluride Ski & Golf Resort has been seeking input from their customers and employees to develop a long-term vision for on-mountain improvements. The result of this effort is a formal Master Development Plan, which after being reviewed by community stakeholders, is now being made available for public comment and input.
“The Master Development plan aims to enhance the overall guest experience through a series of improvements and additions to our existing offering both in the winter and summer,” said Jeff Proteau, vice president of mountain operations and planning.
“The Plan is part of our commitment to operate the best, year-round alpine resort in North America, and the projects we have planned look to balance high-quality facilities and offerings with the characteristics that make Telluride great.”
The Master Development Plan provides a detailed assessment of existing facilities and operations at Telluride Ski Resort, as well as a comprehensive overview of planned elements and year-round activities slated for implementation over the next five to ten years.
Some of the proposed winter and summer projects as part of the Master Development Plan include (but are not limited to):
Replacements of lifts, including Plunge Lift (Lift 9), Coonskin Lift (Lift 7), Sunshine Express Lift (Lift 10)
Expansion of Giuseppe’s and upgrades to Bon Vivant
Restaurant at the top of Sunshine Express Lift (Lift 10)
Snowmaking enhancements to improve coverage and efficiency
Mountain Bike “Flow” trails
Canopy Tour
Aerial Adventure Park
“We’re excited to finalize the MDP with acceptance from the Forest Service,” said Bill Jensen, CEO of Telluride Ski & Golf Resort.
“The MDP will allow us to move forward with the Forest Service on project approvals that will enhance the Telluride experience.”
The timeline for these projects is yet to be determined, and although the Master Development Plan will be accepted by the U.S. Forest Service, each individual project will need to go through an extensive review process and site-specific analysis prior to moving forward. As the Resort moves forward we will be asking for community input regarding this plan.
“We see the community as having a vested interest in the Master Development Plan, and want to be sure they have the opportunity to share their thoughts and feedback,” continued Proteau.
“We’ve already seen positive feedback through our public forums held the last two months, and look forward to taking everyone’s comments into consideration as we move forward.”
