Gus Kenworthy joins Sandra Bernhard, Shawn Colvin and DJ Ruckus for Telluride’s Gay Ski Week in February.
Scheduled for Feb. 20-27, this year’s event is action packed with an impressive list of special guests, and a year of many firsts.
“We are very happy to have Gus [Kenworthy] getting back to his hometown to help us kick off the week as Telluride Gay Ski Week Ambassador 2016,”said TGSW Director, Rosie Cusack, who is now co-producing the event with Soiree Telluride owner and event planner Wendy Hampton.
Telluride native and hometown hero Kenworthy is a fitting TGSW ambassador. He is the first extreme action sports star to come out as gay and is a freestyle skiing competitor celebrity, having won a silver medal in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
Kenworthy will help launch 2016 Telluride Gay Ski Week on Saturday, Feb. 20 with a dance party at Gorrono Beach on the Telluride Ski Resort with DJ Ryan Kenney followed by the opening cocktail party at Arroyo Gallery and Wine Bar and then a Pop Up Night Club at La Marmot. He will then be at Sunday’s Apres Ski Pool Party at the Madeline Sky Terrace with DJ Soul Atomic.
Telluride Gay Ski Week will also feature a karaoke night with Grammy Award winning singer and songwriter Shawn Colvin, the White Party at Honga’s, New York City comedian Sandra Bernhard will perform at the Nugget Theatre and the annual Telluride Aids Benefit Gala Fashion show will be followed by DJ Ruckus at The Sheridan Opera House to cap off the week.
This year, instead of a printed schedule, the promoters have created an interactive, mobile-friendly website. So all you need is your phone, your skis and your best party outfit(s).
