Not sex me up aren’t I erotic Kardashian Lohan train crash naked. Just ain’t nature wonderful and I’m basking in the glory of being in the mountains free spirited naked.
To understand the recent wave of nudie runs one must hark back to Shane McConkey whose nakedness was both a kick in the face of old school rigid ski racing fraternities and a don’t take skiing too seriously kind of naked that has inspired schools of skiers to strip off each year to commemorate the great man since his passing.
Pro skier or ‘ski bum’ Vanessa Aadland got naked for GNAR points and skiied Mt Superior naked in 2011. No gratuitous nipple shots here just bare cheeks exposed to the sun.
Clearly addicted to nudie runs, Vanessa did it again a year later, skiing a GNARly chute known as Suicide Chute, again on Mt Posterior, sorry, Superior.
In 2013 the ski movie Valhalla gave serious kudos to naked skiing and reminded us that skiing is self gratifying unadulterated fun not cancer curing rocket science with a naked segment that tickled the funny bones of viewers.
Back to Vanessa Aadland and in 2014 her mum joined the trend and they hit the European Alps with nothing but their skis and backpacks. What goes on tour doesn’t stay on tour in the Aadland family clearly.
Now Whistler are in the news for more nude bottoms. The ski resort is no stranger to ‘in the buff’ so no surprises then that yet another young gun decide to hit the park and an eighty foot jump swinging (pun intended) at the Whistler World Ski Snowboard Festival last week.
We’re predicting a fully nude ski day at an American resort, most likely Crested Butte, in the 2014/2015 season or maybe a clothing optional resort opening soon most likely in Scandinavia.
Of course if you’re planning on skiing naked you may need this.
