Big White has a reputation, a good one. Known for big terrain, big hospitality and big snow, the interior British Columbia resort in Canada has been an Australian favourite for a big time.

Skier and boarders fly into Kelowna to access Big White Mountain between the Monashee Mountains and Okanagan Valley.  With a ski in ski out purpose built village filled with restaurants, entertainment and a plethora of accommodation options, Big White is a must this winter. Here’s five reasons why.

Western Canada’s largest resort night skiing

You don’t have to stop skiing or boarding just because the sun has gone down. Hit the slopes under lights from Tuesday night to Saturday night on Bullet Express and Plaza Chair to access 2569 metres of night ski terrain with 596 metres of night skiing vertical drop.

It’s BIG, really big

Big White is a quiet achiever in British Columbia, a state filled with ski and snowboard resorts. The resort area is 7355 acres (3052 hectares) that include 2566 acres (1074 hectares) of patrolled skiable terrain including 905 acres (367 hectares) of groomed runs and 1525 acres (618 hectares) of alpine and graded runs.

The summit sits at 2319metres so altitude is not a huge issue and the village centre is at 1755metres so sleep is guaranteed. The longest run is 7.2kms and there are a total of 105kms of marked runs with a vertical drop of 777metres.

The terrain is split between 18% beginner, 54% intermediate, 22% expert and 6% extreme so there’s something for all family members.

Free wifi

Yes, you heard right. Free wi-fi is offered throughout the resort via TELUS so you can stay connected with your friends on the mountain and back home and upload envy inducing images to your social media accounts in real time.

Mountain hosts

Don’t know the mountain? Never fear Big White offer free daily Mountain Host guided tours so you can get your bearings on your first ski or board day, meet fellow skiers and boarders and get your ski holiday off in mountain style.

A gazillion activities to fill your downtime

Whether you fancy ice climbing or tubing, there’s an activity for you at Big White. Snowmobile tours, mini z children’s snowmobiles, ice skating, snow shoeing, dog sledding, horse drawn sleigh rides, cross country skiing, day spa and family friendly carnival nights.
