You can’t compare oranges and apples, but let’s just say California in the USA has enough snow right now to send half of it our way.

After a record breaking snowfall season in California (over 20 metres), for many resorts it was the most snowfall recorded in history, and some resorts are still open for skiing in June.

While Australia records the seasons from the first of the month, the USA isn’t technically in summer until June 21. But we’re calling it.

Alpine in Palisades Tahoe is operating Friday to Sunday throughout June from 8.00am to 2.00pm and Mammoth Mountain fully intends to shred through to July. With a reported snow base depth of 110 – 152 inches they’d be a fool not to. That’s 2.79m to 3.86m.

To put it into perspective New South Wales resorts hit 232cms of snowfall on the 20th of September, 2022.

This video was posted on June 5 in Palisades Tahoe. I’m not crying, you are.

Just to make you weep some more, Mammoth posted this collage on June 10.

The crew at Heavenly Mountain have had to delay the opening of their summer mountain coaster. Why? Because they haven’t been able to dig the whole thing out yet!

Send tissues. Better yet, send a plane ticket.
