Australian boardercross athlete, Belle Brockhoff, claimed her fourth podium placement of this FIS World Cup season overnight with a bronze in Sierra Nevada, Spain.
The 27 year old from Victoria has quite the medal swag so far this year with her bronze in Spain adding to her bronze in Montafon and gold and silver in Big White. She is currently sitting in second place on the leaderboard.
Brockhoff came third in the Sierra Nevada event behind current number one, Michela Moioli from Italy and Chloe Trespeuch from France who took gold.
It’s an impressive result for the two time Olympian who has battled two knee injuries in the last three years.
Last time I was here in Sierra Nevada was three years ago where I tore my ACL for the first time. Today, I won a Bronze medal. It was more than just a bronze medal, it was a big win psychology. I couldn’t be happier! ? Thankyou to my coaches, wax techs and physios!#snowboarding pic.twitter.com/60ZXaYkiEp

Perseverance and resilience run in Brockhoff’s family of Australian athletes and ski industry pioneers. Her uncle, Peter Brockhoff competed in Alpine Skiing at the 1960 and 1964 Winter Olympics and her grandfather Harold Brockhoff was one of the original pioneers of Mt Buller.
While her great aunt, Joyce Brockhoff has a run named in her honour at Mt Hotham, Victoria in recognition of her work promoting the involvement of women in snow sports.
The final event of the boarder cross season is in Switzerland at Veysonnaz next Sunday.
