Aussies love Big White with many returning year after year, some buy property, some open businesses, others just settle in for a week to four weeks safe in the knowledge their kids are having a ball right outside the condo door.
So it makes sense that Big White hosts the Australian Snow Sports Training Camps on their world class terrain. The program has been developed by the resort’s Director of Snow Sports, Josh Foster, and focuses on skill progression with video training and assessment to help junior compete in the Interschools back home.
The coaching team are top level with many having coached at FIS or National Canada levels and the program itself has been designed using the ‘Long Term Athlete Development model’ so you know it is based in sports science and best training practice. In short the program works with an individual’s physical, mental and emotional maturation rather than on chronological age.
Your kids will be skiing and boarding across a range of disciplines each week including Snowboard GS, Alpine GS, Skier Cross, Boarder Cross, Moguls, Slopestyle and terrain parks. All this with specialist coaches and 6 hours on snow training every day. Plus little miss and mister will have exclusive course access, FIS rated boarder cross course on which to train and a purpose built moguls course. Did we mention the world renowned Telus Park for freestyle athletes? And the airbag program with level 4 Air Coach, Jason Moseley.
The coaches will monitor and record your child’s timed date times, skill development and race times with a goal for improvement. They’ll also teach your kids about tuning of their equipment, the importance of boot fitting, dry land training and fitness.
