Whistler Blackcomb is great any time of the season but it is especially good in Spring. Why? Here’s seven reasons.
Lots of Snow
It’s a little known fact that March is Whistler’s ‘snowiest’ month and receives more snowfall than February every year. Last season the resort scored over three metres of snow in March alone, in 2012 they got over four metres and in 2011 the March snowfall total was 315 centimeters. You can spring ski on Whistler until late April and on Blackcomb until late May.
Cheap cheap
Spring skiing deals are always cheaper than peak season. This means significant savings on lift passes, accommodation, meal deals and with those March snow falls, even more snow for your dollar. Why wouldn’t you choose spring skiing at Whistler?
Chow Down
Whistler restaurants offer lower season deals during the Spring ski season so expect half price appetizers, two for one main meals and more. Keep an eye on the resort’s favourite dining website, Whistler Bites, for daily deals that just get better and better the later the season.
World Ski & Snowboard festival
Prepare yourself for 10 days of mayhem from April 7 to 16. The WSFF combines sport, music and art in one big celebration with Canada’s largest free outdoor concert series, ski and snowboard pro athlete competitions, photography and film events and all that spring skiing.
Heli skiing
Whistler Heli Skiing operate right through until April 17 so you can grab some extra untouched fresh virgin powder with longer days of sunlight. The heli ski operation has the exclusive rights to 432 000 acres of big mountain terrain, including 173 glaciers so you need never cross another person’s track. Strong intermediate skiers through to experts can take advantage of the Canadian/Australian parity exchange rate and pay around $989 for the day of your life.
25% off snow school programs
Expect big discounts with the Discover Whistler Days on April 1-9 and April 18-23 when selected snow school programs are 25% off. Choose from 2 day, 3 day and 5 day kids, youth and adult programs.
Shopping
Everyone knows you get the best bargains at the end of the season as ski and snow retailers make way for biking and summer gear. With the Canadian dollar at parity with the Australian then you’re practically guaranteed a good price so you can stock up on outerwear and hardware to start the next season brand spanking new.
